At Earnshaw State College, sport is an integral part of school life. From Prep through to Year 12, students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of sporting experiences that develop confidence, teamwork, resilience, leadership and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity.
Our comprehensive sporting program complements the Health and Physical Education (HPE) curriculum by providing meaningful opportunities for students to challenge themselves and discover new passions in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our annual interhouse sporting calendar is a highlight of the school year and provides students with opportunities to demonstrate personal excellence while contributing to their house community.

- Athletics Carnival (Term 2)
- Swimming Carnival (Term 4)
Beyond fostering school spirit, these carnivals often serve as selection events for students pursuing representative sporting pathways at district, regional and state levels.
Our Proud House System
Students proudly represent one of three houses named after iconic Australian sporting champions:
- Rafter House – Honouring former World No. 1 tennis player Pat Rafter.
- Bradman House – Celebrating Sir Donald Bradman, Australia's legendary cricket captain and one of the greatest athletes of all time.
- O'Neill House – Recognising Olympic swimming champion Susie O'Neill and her outstanding contribution to Australian sport.
Throughout the year, students earn valuable points for their house as they strive for the prestigious title of House Champion.
Outstanding Sporting Facilities
Earnshaw State College boasts excellent on-site facilities that enable students to participate in high-quality sporting and physical education experiences.

These facilities support curriculum delivery, interhouse competitions, training sessions and representative sport preparation.
Representative Sport Pathways
Students with a passion for sport have the opportunity to pursue representative honours through Queensland's established school sport pathways.
As part of the Bay District, Earnshaw students can nominate for district trials across a broad range of sports throughout the year. Successful athletes may progress through:
- Bay District Selection
- Metropolitan North Regional Teams
- Queensland Representative School Sport (QRSS)
- School Sport Australia (SSA) National Championships
This pathway provides talented students with opportunities to compete alongside the state's best young athletes while developing valuable skills in performance, teamwork and sportsmanship.
