Hello community! My name is Sam Joppich and I am the Head of Department for
HPE & Sport here at Earnshaw State College. During Term 2, Weeks 3,4 and 5 I am
hoping to challenge students from P-12 to get moving around the house and
learning some new skills!
The HPE staff have created an ‘ESC Choose your Challenge’
house event. Students will have the ability to choose from 1 of 3 cardio and
body weight workouts & learning a skill. When students complete a challenge
workout or skill they will earn points for their house.
The other two activities relate to a Met North Virtual Cross
Country and Earnshaw Beat the Teacher race. These are for students from 10
Years old but can be attempted by any student. My hope is that we can get students
nice and active and filling those gaps in the day where they might be on the
computer or watching TV.
I encourage all students to give it a go and maybe some
parents and carers to go along with them. Enjoy your challenges and stay safe!
ESC Beat the Teacher
Students are to use a running app (map my run or strava) to record their run. They are then to send in a screenshot of their distance and time.
Students get 10 points for their house for every 1 km that they achieve. Their house points double if the beat the teachers time for the same distance.
Met North Virtual Cross Country
Over weeks 3, 4 and 5 this term, students who are learning from home or at school will have the opportunity to download any running app for their phone or smart watch and submit their time to be considered for our ‘All-Met North Honorary Cross Country Team’. Students may also get their school to time a run as part of HPE Lessons/Sport time and submit a verified time directly. Students can submit multiple times and the best time will be used to determine our winners. Medals and certificates will be sent to the winning student’s school. For this year only, we will be awarding a Champion School with the largest number of participants.
